In a world where so much is made quickly, in large quantities, and often far away, we think there is something pretty special about slowing down.

About knowing who made your clothes. About knowing where they were made. And about appreciating the little human touches that make something more than just a product.

We think the new luxury is made by hand.

Our newest ESJAY range is a little celebration of just that.

It all starts with a print, hand-painted by local artist Libby Bell. A piece of art, created by hand, brought to life through colour and creativity, and transformed into something you can wear.

From there, the fabric makes its way to our little factory in South Africa, where it is cut and sewn by hand by our incredible team of local ladies. Every piece passes through real hands, with time, skill and care going into turning a beautiful print into something made to move with you.

We have always believed that making locally matters. Not just because it supports local jobs and keeps skills alive, but because we get to be part of the process, from the very first idea to the moment your order arrives at your door.

And this time, we wanted that feeling to carry through to the very last detail.

Every order comes with a little thank-you card made from seed paper. Instead of simply keeping it or throwing it away, you can plant it by hand (we couldn’t resist! ), give it a little water and, with some sunshine and a bit of patience, hopefully watch it grow into flowers.

A small reminder that beautiful things take time. That growth starts with something small. And that the things we make, and the people we support along the way, can leave something good behind.

From Libby’s paintbrush, to our ladies’ sewing machines, to your hands as you plant your little flowers, this range is a reminder that there is still room for things to be made thoughtfully, locally and with love.
